Vintage RARE 1940's Eastern / Atlas DS6 microphone desk stand Shure RCA DS5 # 2

Description: Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome. You are looking at an uber rare late 1940's era Atlas DS-6 model microphone stand based off the earlier Eastern model. Back when Atlas first formed as a company it brought a few companies together and I believe Eastern was one of them. Atlas had a surplus of older models it needed to phase out before designing their new models such as the DS-5 and DS-7. The DS-6 was an older design made during the 1940's and sold as a different model by companies such as Eastern and Emco. This DS-6 with the chrome plating is hard enough to find on it's own but the DS-6 with dual chrome risers (instead of single) is damn near impossible. This was the deluxe model DS-7 and allowed the user to adjust the height on his or her microphone accordingly. I have only ever seen one Atlas DS-6 with the dual chrome risers though I have seen a couple earlier Eastern models in this design. This really is a rare piece right here and it's in very nice condition overall. The DS-6 was only sold by Atlas for a couple short years before introducing the replacement models being the DS-5 and DS-7. Atlas only sold the DS-5 in chrome and never the DS=7 but I have only ever seen two chrome DS-5 models in my life. Atlas DS-6 model desk stand is perfect for just about any older vintage microphone you have. This DS6 model came with the solid brass base and came and a nice polished chrome plate finish. The DS6 makes for a fairly stable platform as well. It's good for all small, medium and several larger screw on microphones. It will accept any mic clip as well. It does have a small adapter on top on the top riser that has the modern 5/8 X 27 thread. The DS-6 has a somewhat elegant demeanor despite it's simple design and weighs roughly 2 pounds. Very deco in nature. The stand itself is appx 6 inches across X 9 1/2 inches tall at it's lowest and 14 inches tall when raised fully upright. The base is appx 6 inches wide. As you can see this one is quite nice considering it's damn near 80 years old. The original chrome risers are damn near perfect and the clutch mechanism works perfectly. The chrome plated base shows a bit more wear but it's subtle and the base is free of any dents or fractures. There is an exit hole in the rear of the stand where the cable can exit if you decide to run the cable down the length of the risers. All 3 pads are still present and in excellent shape. This stand really is a gem of an example. It is an easy 8 on a scale of 10 though some would rate higher.
