Description: Very cool vintage wall clock shaped like an old car, probably a Model T or A. The back of the clock says Mastercrafters Clock Corp. Chicago 12, ILL, M-741 (although the front license plate says M 740 and that is the model number usually referenced online). Mastercrafters clocks are collectors items. They are featured in the Made in Chicago Museum and are often the subject of discussion by the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC). Mastercrafters made many clocks from 1939 to 1980, ranging from kitschy to elegant, many with special actions or features. Both the clock and headlights work. In fact, the headlights have special bulbs that flicker just like the old car headlights used to. As far as I can tell, the clock keeps accurate time. I plugged it in overnight, and the time was still correct the next morning. I did some light cleaning of the clock because it was really dusty, however, there are crevices I missed. You can leave it that way if you want—it adds to the aged look of the car—or you can get into those crevices with a small brush. The clock is in really good shape. Other than a small patch of rust on the back metal plate and some slight wear to the chrome accents on the front, it looks great. There is a small hole on the back for mounting on a wall. It cannot stand on its own.
