Description: Shown in the photos is a 1940s-1950s vintage set of Little Women dolls from Madame Alexander. These dolls are all 14" tall. They are in their original clothes. Two have the Maggie face and two have the Margaret face. The bodies are a bit different among the dolls. Below is a description of the dolls and their clothing.... The first doll shown has a tag without a Little Women's character name on it, but by process of elimination, she must be Beth. This doll has the Maggie face. Her coloring is that beautiful even tan that one finds with Alexander dolls from this era. She has a five-piece jointed body. The most obvious flaw is that she is missing her left arm. Other than that, she is very, very nice....original shoes and socks, original drawers, original dress with attached white petticoat. Her hair is in its original set and looks almost like the day she was put in the box. Her dress has no stains, no odors, no tears and no frail spots. The dress fabric is not in-the-box pristine but still shows quite nicely. The second doll pictured is Meg, with a Margaret face. She is dressed in red & white cotton with a white collar and green apron. She has all body parts although her head needs to be restrung....it's a little loose. Her hair is in its original set. She has her original shoes, socks, long drawers, and separate petticoat with buckram stiffening at the hem. Her body is jointed at the knee, like a Binny Walker or Cissy. Her clothing has no stains, no tears and no odors. The elastic is a little stretched at the sleeve hems. Next up is Jo with a Maggie face. She is wearing a red & green plaid dress with black velvet front insert. She is missing her socks, and one of her shoes, which may be a later replacement, is missing the front bow. She wears original long drawers. Her dress has an attached petticoat trimmed at the bottom with a gathered plaid braid. Her body is a five-piece jointed body. The dress has no stains, tears or odors, although the white organdy at the sleeve bottoms has darkened with age. Her wig is a little "rumpled" and not still in as nice a set as the other three dolls. The last doll in this set is Amy with a Margaret face. She is dressed in a blue & white polka dot dress with white organdy trim at the neck. She has a bottom similar to Meg (above) with the jointed knees that look like a Binny Walker or Cissy body. She wears original shoes, socks, long drawers and separate petticoat. Her dress and other clothes have no stain, no tears and no odors, but are not in-the-box pristine perfect. These dolls come from a non-smoking home. Please let me know if you have any questions!
