The original knife's sheath is included in the package, ensuring that it stays safe and secure when not in use. There is a long tradition of knife makers in Mora. Frost-Erik Ersson (1865-1924) was one of the first knife makers to put the seed of what would become one of the world's most popular knife smith center in the city of Mora, Sweden. In 1887 Erik Frost emigrated to the USA, and by 1891 arrived back in Mora, after few years of work as a lumberjack in North America. In the same year Erik Frost established a company and manufactured different products under his name. Initially Erik Frost have only made knives as tools for internal use in the factory. The knife production picked up as early as 1894, and within a few years the first batch of knives was exported. By 1904 Erik Frost changed the name of the company to Frosts Knivfabrik AB to dedicate the company exclusively to the knife manufacturing as business. In 1916 electricity arrived and boosted the manufacturing process. He ran the business until his death in 1924. He was known for making quality knives. His son Karl took over the leadership of the company, and later, other family members continued the business. Since at least the 1940s Frost was a regular supplier for the military. In 1947 the Frost's knife factory was destroyed by a fire and the roof collapsed. The factory was reborn with a great success. In 1991 Frosts Knivfabrik celebrated its 100th anniversary and had about 300 different models of knives in its range. After 2005, the Frost brand continues only for the food industry and hoof knives. This hunting knife appears to be in excellent conditions, showing light aged wear as seen in the pictures. The lacquered curly birch handle appears to be in perfect conditions despite its elderly age. Everything is solid. The blade is approx. 5 1/4in (135mm) and the handle is approx. 4 1/2 in (115mm). All parts are firmly attached. No wobble. The knife sits very well in its original sheath. The leather sheath with its nickel-plated brass bolsters and sheath trims, is in great condition, showing some light wear. The stamped staple Erik Frost - Mora - Sweden is working perfectly well, and keep the knife safely attached. Don't miss out on this original and rare piece of Mora's Swedish knives history.
