Description: The thing that sets our Primitive boards apart is the FINISH. It's not a "dull wood" finish. We have a special bees wax aging finish that we apply to all of our bowls. It takes an already distressed bowl and makes it look OLD and WARM and very primitive. And it STAYS that way for the life of the board. It is smooth to the touch and it is beautiful. They carve these little cheese Paddle boards in Mexico out of whatever wood they have available at the time. NO two are ever exactly alike and they're all very primitive. When I get them they're VERY used and dirty and the wood is super dry. I go through and pick out the ones with the most character. I COULD sand down past all of the marks and old wood ripples to make them useable, but I actually PREFER the character of them as they are. So I clean each one up as best as possible and then I wax and buff each to preserve the original patina. THEN I drill a hole in the handle and tie a loop of leather so that it is now perfect as a primitive kitchen (or elsewhere) wall hang! This would NOT be suitable for displaying raw foods (like cheese) on (unless you lined it first) because the moisture in foods like that would eventually wear away the wax finish. Measures 17 7/8 inches long, 4 3/8 inches wide and it is 5/8" THICK. It weighs JUST shy of a Pound. The board you SEE is the EXACT one you will RECEIVE.
