Description: Up for auction here is a delightful original painting by New Orleans artist Barbara (Babs) Muscutt. Muscutt has been living and working in New Orleans since the late 1960s when she and her late husband, Les, a jazz musician, moved there from the UK, the home of their birth. There is substantial on-line information on the artist (see also Barbara Muscott). This particular work is well documented in a typed/written note on the back, see photo. The ancient tile which served as the artist's canvas also derailed in the note. Approximate measurements are 8" by 14”, there are holes in the tile from installation as roofing and edges are, naturally, irregular and you vacant see she’s painted into it, The subject is Tipitina’s Jazz and Blues club featuring the house band in front and several fun signs amazing details and the note includes that this was painted in a Gouache medium and double varnished for protection and long life
