The band's music is characterized by a unique blend of ska, punk rock, funk, and new wave, with Elfman's distinctive voice and theatrical flair at the forefront. Oingo Boingo's early work, including their debut album "Only a Lad" (1981), featured socially and politically charged lyrics wrapped in upbeat and infectious melodies.
