MARKER Binding prototype? or a new company SKI FREE CO MILL VALLEY was trying to create a better rear binding and just used the MARKER binding on the front? You tell me.... I cannot find anything on the rear part of the binding and they may be a one of a kind prototype. the rear binding is stamped (PATENT PENDING WORLD RIGHTS RESERVED) (SKI FREE CO MILL VALLEY) I am guessing CA is after that but I have to adjust the binding to see. I cannot find anything on the SKI FREE COMPANY OF MILL VALLEY So it has got me wondering if this is some type of a prototype binding that never made it to production. As for the skis themselves....If you are unfamiliar of this ski or its importance to skiing history I suggest you research them a bit, The head standard was the first successful non wood ski to hit the slope and Howard head's trials and tribulation to make it happen is a story in itself. The Head Standard was Howard head's first successful ski design, and arguably the first modern downhill ski. The Standard used composite construction, with a plywood core sandwiched between aluminum outer skins, steel edges tapering into the core, and a hard plastic base, sidewalls and top sheet. The only major changes in ski materials since the Standard are the use of fiberglass structural layers in place (or in addition to) of the aluminum layers, and substitution of expanded plastic foam for the wooden core.
