Description: Up for sale is this very rare 1993 Hawk F-26. It is one of the few mountain bike frames built by the iconic California mid-school BMX company. This frame is number 12 of 27 built. If you think you need one of these in your collection, this could be your chance to get what is maybe the best example of one of these known by me to exist, or any example for that matter. Not much info exists about these bikes but based on info passed down to me from the owner of Hawk through a member of a Hawk collectors' group, twenty-seven frames are said to have been built at the California shop, but many were never fully completed and very few had the matching Hawk fork. Most of these were said to be given to dealers to gauge interest. The ones that were sold, were as frame set with a Control Tech stem, Ringle seat collar and American standard Cook Quality Products bottom bracket. As far as I know, they only made them in one size, which is basically a medium and only in red or blue. I've only seen pictures of a few others, only two of which have the matching fork. This frame is a medium and the seat tube measures 14.5" center to center and 18 1/4' center to top. The top tube is 22" actual center to center and 23" effective. This frame was basically NOS when I got it, having been built up once and ridden around on pavement once or twice. Since I built it up, I've ridden it on single track maybe a half dozen times, and the frames has a couple of minor paint flakes and chips from this, and all of those years of being stored. It rides really well, somewhat surprisingly. To me it feels modern for a bike from 1993, with the super sloped top tube and more racked out geometry. The build on this bike is a mix of high end and correct for 1993 NOS and clean parts. It has a really clean Cook Quality Products crankset to match the CQP bottom bracket, NOS Shimano XT ST M-091 brifters, Answer Hyperlite bars, Avid Tri-Align brakes, Shimano XT M-732 derailleurs and wheels, Ringle Moby seat post and Flite saddle. This bike is dialed to ride, with the exception of the brakes, which I just put on and need a couple of washers to get the preloadset up properly. There's a Mountain Bike Action review of this bike that I had found on the internet in the past, but I've been unable to find it again. For questions or more pictures, send me a DM.
