Description: This really neat, uncommon Japanese post card was sent from Yokohama, Japan, to Springfield, Nebraska, U.S.A., on October 23, 1908! The sender was a sailor, Clyde, serving aboard a U.S. Navy vessel that was part of the U.S.'s Great White Fleet! The addressee was a female cousin. The sailor talks of having a great time in Japan! He had already been to Tokyo and Yokohama, and was about to go to Kamakura to see some, "idols," as he called the Buddhist statues, etc. He also mentioned that his fellow sailors and he would head for Manila, The Philippines, on October 25th. To continue, outside of some stains on it, the pink, 4-Sen, Japanese definitive is in pretty good condition! The bilingual, commemorative cancel from the Japanese Post Office in Yokohama is very good, but light/faded in some places. Lastly, as for the Japanese post card, itself, it's in very good shape! It's pretty clean, but does have some stains on the front from having been put in an album at some point. The images on the front are still very clear, though! Noted imperfections aside, this post card remains an attractive, unique piece of U.S. Naval postal history connected to a sailor serving on a warship in the Great White Fleet, and a female cousin in Nebraska!
