Description: ATQ Cabinet Card Photo Bern Switzerland Zytglogge Clock Tower M. Vollenweider Wonderful, antique, sepia tone photograph taken in Bern, Switzerland. Handwritten date on reverse side Sep 23/97. Features Bern landmark, the Zytglogge clock tower, locals, town square with businesses, and architecture. A young girl poses near the fountain and statue in center of photo. Cabinet card is stamped on either end and reads: M. Vollenweider & Sohn BERN Postgasse 68 Moritz Vollenweider was one of the first photographers in Bern. In 1863 he opened a studio at Postgasse 47. Later he worked together with his son Emil. On reverse side, in pencil, is written: Bern Sep 23/87…meaning 1897. Measures 6-5/8” x 4-1/4”. Some chipping to board at corners and edge wear as shown. Albumen print is in very fine condition.
