Antique 19thC French Porcelain Monk Figural Perfume Bottle Flask Flacon Figurine

Description: For sale is a superb figural perfume bottle made by Samson of Paris in the 19th century . Meant to imitate the German original it is still an amazing piece of porcelain and a great perfume flask to own. The piece is known as the "The Bawdy Monk" and is of a monk carrying a young girl on his back that is concealed in a wheat sheaf. The monk is carrying a basket full of eggs on one arm and a dead duck in his other hand. The piece is based on a folk tale. The head of the monk comes off to reveal a perfume container and the butterfly sitting on the wheat comes off as well to reveal another opening for perfume. Metal fitting with a tiny chain to hold the stoppers in place. The piece displays nicely but has the handle missing from the basket with the edge chipped off as well, a small spot of damage to the wheat sheaf and a strategically placed chip to the back of the base where the mark would have been. The underside has an impressed number 7 to it. The flakon is 3.625 inches tall, 1.375 inches wide and 1.75 inches deep.
