None of our vending boxes from 1980 to 1984 are taped from the factory, but our 1985 Topps vending boxes are, so obviously Topps started taping boxes shut in 1985.Take a look at PSA's website and the price guide for 1983 Topps baseball cards graded a 10. They are worth quite a bit more than I thought they would be to be honest and I may need to send quite a few of my singles from 1983 off to PSA myself to get graded. The potential value of this vending box is exceptionally high. Obviously, there are only 500 of the 792 cards in the 1983 Topps baseball set in this box, but you will definitely get quite a few of the cards worth sending to a professional grading service.I've been collecting primarily baseball cards since I bought my first pack in 1978 at 5 years old when I was still living in California. I've purchased dozens of collections over the decades and have amassed quite a large, extensive and very cool collection of baseball cards, memorabilia and autographs. The only difference now is that I've been able to do so with my 22 year old son since he was about 5 years old as well.As you can see in the pictures above, I got several cases of vending boxes in a large collection before my son was born. I got cases for 1980 through 1985 Topps and 1981 through 1985 Fleer and all of them were still glued shut. I rented a covered Uhaul trailer and drove down to Orlando, Florida in my SUV to pay for and pick up the collection. The gentleman had everything well stored in closets and on shelves in a couple bedrooms. I've had these boxes stored in my hallway closet ever since.PLEASE NOTE: We are selling one more box of these, listed separately, and we're also selling two boxes from each year. Since my son and I are looking at buying another excellent collection loaded with the cards I love from 1975 back to the 1930s or so, I figured we may as well sell some of our collection from the 1980s. We come across 1980s stuff much more often than we do the 1950s and back and I am certain that we'll see these again too.Given that these cards have been well kept in a climate controlled environment for the last 41 years, we trust they are in as mint condition as one can find and this box should have plenty of cards that would be worth sending off to PSA or another grading service.
