Description: 1964 WORLD CHAMPION Cleveland Browns Plus:1964 NFL Championship Game Rare Sportsfilms, Inc. is the rights owner of this DVD Browns fans! A new DVD is now available on the 1964 World Champion Cleveland Browns! The official color film of the ’64 Browns regular season highlights, plus the memorable 1964 NFL Championship Game at Municipal Stadium are now both together on this DVD! As a bonus, we have also added almost a half hour of rare, B & W news footage containing scenes of the Browns last practice leading up to the title game and locker room interviews with players including Jim Brown, coach Blanton Collier and even Baltimore Colts head coach, young Don Shula! Altogether, there’s almost 1½ hours of rare, vintage 1964 Browns footage here, more than has ever been made available before on DVD! Here’s exactly what you’ll see on this DVD: In 1964 for the first time, the Browns highlights were filmed entirely in COLOR and sponsored by Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company! This first 36-minute chapter covers all the highlights from every regular season game except the Steeler upset and the loss at Green Bay! Narrated by the old voice of the Browns Ken Coleman, the segment includes beautiful closeup shots of many Browns heros of 1964, such as quarterback Frank Ryan, the fabulous fullback duo of Jimmy Brown and Ernie Green, brilliant rookie Paul Warfield, ageless Lou Groza, Dick Schafrath, Larry Benz, Vince Costello, Johnny Brewer, Bill Glass and Galen Fiss. Other Browns are shown throughout, including Gary Collins, Ross Fichtner, guards Gene Hickerson and John Wooten, John Morrow, Bernie Parrish, Paul Wiggin, Jim Houston, Tom Hutchinson, Charlie Scales, Jim Ninowski, Walter Beach, Monte Clark, Dick Modzelewski, young Jim Kanicki and rookies Walter Roberts, Clifton McNeil, Sidney Williams and of course Leroy Kelly! You’ll see action at other long gone NFL venues, such as old Pitt Stadium, Yankee Stadium, old Busch Stadium, Franklin Field and the Cotton Bowl! NFL stars on other teams shown battling the Browns include Charlie Johnson, Bobby Joe Conrad, Don Meredith, Frank Clarke, Y.A. Tittle, Sonny Jurgensen, Bobby Mitchell, Milt Plum and Dick LeBeau! “Prelude To A Championship” is a compilation of B & W news clips on the Browns preparations during the week before the title game. Included is never-before-seen footage of the Browns on the practice field and in the locker room, plus interviews and sportswriter commentary: · Defensive tackle Dick Modzelewski and young son visit Santa Claus during the week before the game. Guess what Dick wants for Christmas! · Sportswriter Chuck Heaton of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reviews the ’64 Browns season, discusses the upcoming game and talks about how well the ’64 club stacks up against past Browns championship teams. · Browns last practice. Jim Brown comes off the practice field and discusses the season and the upcoming game Sunday against the heavily favored Colts. · Players stream into the clubhouse after practice (live sound). Behind the scenes! · Browns play-by-play broadcaster Ken Coleman interviews veteran kicker Lou Groza. · Film session with Browns coaches, and Ken Coleman interview with head coach Blanton Collier, who gives a detailed rundown on the Baltimore Colts. · Film from Baltimore, with head coach Don Shula talking about the Browns, their personnel and his thoughts on the upcoming game at Municipal Stadium. · Walter Beach is interviewed by Jim Brown and gives his comments on the best receivers in the league and going up against Raymond Berry on Sunday. · Jim Brown interviews quarterback Frank Ryan. His simple strategy for Sunday. · Ken Coleman has a final thought, then an empty Cleveland Stadium awaits the game Sunday! Of course, the NFL Title Game at Municipal Stadium is the highlight of the season. Narrated by Chris Schenkel, this segment shows all the big plays and tells the story of the game. The turning points of the game are all described and dissected with the help of “super slow-motion” photography. Many plays are shown several times, each from a different angle. This historic film shows why the Browns, who were heavy 8-10 point underdogs going into the game, were not only able to beat the mighty Colts, but shut them out 27-0! Of course, many Browns already mentioned above are shown during the course of the game, and Colt stars get ample coverage also such as QB Johnny Unitas, Lenny Moore, Raymond Berry, Jimmy Orr, Jerry Hill, Joe Don Looney, Tony Lorick, Lenny Liles, Willie Richardson, John Mackey, Jim Parker, Bill Pellington, Don Schinnick, Steve Stonebreaker, Bobby Boyd, Billy Ray Smith, Lou Michaels, Ordell Braase and others including Gino Marchetti, playing is his last pro game.
