Fresno Churches, Merced & N Streets - The First Baptist Church was organized in 1882 following a series of prayer meetings conducted at the Good Templars Hall. Following the destruction of an earlier structure by fire the present church was erected at Merced and N Streets in 1900. A $7,000 annex was added in 1935, the first of a series of units planned in a building enlargement program. Reverend Hubert C. Mathews is the pastor. Sold to St. Paul's Armenian Church in 1954, Church was built of brick following fire destroyed church this location July 9, 1899.Photo measures 10 x 8inches. Photo is dated 4-10-1937.
