Listed items will not be marked down during the listing duration. 1847 Rogers Vintage was the premier pre-World War I silverplate pattern, being made from 1904 until 1918. In this pattern, popularly called Vintage Grape, there are over 100 different pieces, both place and serving. The sales for Vintage exceeded that of any pattern until First Love appeared in 1937. Vintage is an Art Nouveau design of grapes, tendrils, vines and leaves in a well-balanced handle that fits the hand beautifully. Vintage remains the leading seller in antique silverplate today, with many folks filling out an inherited set. In serving foods, there are always things that don't fit in spoons, so for them there is the serving fork. The one offered here is the small serving fork with decoration above the tines. The more modern term for it is the buffet fork, as it is quite useful for this type of meal. This is sometimes called the chipped beef fork, but calling it that in an auction is almost guaranteed not to sell it, as no one serves creamed shipped beef any more! UGH! However, this useful little fork is great for buffets and potlucks, and works well with cold cuts. The buffet/chip beef fork offered here measures about 6 1/2". This is not a piece of new silver. It shows the patina of as much as 115 years of careful use. There are the light scratches which constitute normal patina. There is no monogram. Silver is softly lustrous. There is heel wear, consistent with age and reasonable use. The pattern is crisp and clear. I polish all silver before listing on eBay. Please email with any questions before bidding.
